Quick answer

What should you mine first?

Mine timed rare nodes first, then Iron Ore, Copper Ore, and Coal before doing a surface Stone sweep. The safest daily route is rare node check, River Area copper, mid-layer iron, cave crystal nodes, then storage. Store upgrade ore before selling anything because mining feeds crafting, tool upgrades, and research.

Before you enter

  • Empty at least eight inventory slots before entering the mine.
  • Check the next crafting recipe or tool upgrade before deciding what to sell.
  • Bring one stamina food item if you plan to clear more than two layers.
  • Mine rare or timed nodes before common Stone nodes.
  • End the route at storage first, then the vendor only after reserve stacks are safe.

Ore Details & Tips

StoneCommon

Where: Roadside nodes, cliffs, town edges

Used for: Basic crafting, construction, furniture

Tip: Everywhere — gather passively while walking

CoalUncommon

Where: Ore nodes in mines

Used for: Smelting fuel (required for all smelting)

Tip: Always keep 20+ in storage for smelting

Copper OreUncommon

Where: River Area mine, layers 1-2

Smelts into: Copper Ingot

Used for: Copper Ingots → tools, decorations

Tip: First metal ore — start mining here

Iron OreUncommon

Where: Mid-layer mine nodes

Smelts into: Metal Ingot

Used for: Metal Ingots → tools, upgrades, blueprints, furniture

Tip: Most-used metal in the game. Farm heavily.

FluoriteRare

Where: Cave crystal nodes

Smelts into: Refined Fluorite

Used for: Research Room upgrades, advanced crafting

Tip: Save for Research Room — do not sell

Flawless FluoriteEpic

Where: Daily rotating rare nodes

Smelts into: Perfect Crystal

Used for: High-end furniture, premium crafting

Tip: Check daily rotation — rare spawn locations change

Optimal Mining Route

  1. Check daily rare node first. If Flawless Fluorite spawned today, mine it immediately — it disappears tomorrow.
  2. River Area mine (layers 1-2). Consistent Copper Ore spawns. Hit every node on both layers.
  3. Mid-layer mine. Iron Ore nodes. Mine everything — Metal Ingots are always needed.
  4. Cave crystal nodes. Look for Fluorite (Rare). Save for Research Room upgrades.
  5. Surface sweep. Pick up roadside Stone on your way back. Free and plentiful.

This route costs ~30-40 stamina total. Bring Coffee (+35) for an extended session. Mine first thing in the morning when stamina is full.

Route by Objective

Need early bars for crafting

Start at roadside Stone, clear River Area layers 1-2 for Copper Ore, then stop at the Forge before using the rest of your stamina.

Keep: Copper Ore, Coal, Stone, and any Iron Ore you find.

Need tool or furniture upgrades

Open with Mid-layer mine nodes while stamina is full, then sweep cave crystal nodes only if you still have food or coffee.

Keep: Iron Ore, Coal, Fluorite, and first-copy rare drops.

Need rare crystals

Check the daily rare node first, mine Flawless Fluorite if it appears, then move to cave crystal nodes before doing common ore cleanup.

Keep: Flawless Fluorite, Fluorite, Coal, and enough Iron Ore for the next upgrade.

Smelting Quick Reference

Input+Fuel=Output
Copper Ore+1 Coal=Copper Ingot
Iron Ore+1 Coal=Metal Ingot
Fluorite+1 Coal=Refined Fluorite
Flawless Fluorite+2 Coal=Perfect Crystal

Forge unlocks at D.G. Level 5. Always keep 20+ Coal in storage as smelting fuel.

Keep, Smelt, or Sell

ItemActionWhy
CoalKeepEvery smelting loop consumes fuel, so selling coal usually creates a later bottleneck.
Copper OreSmelt when recipe-readyUseful for early crafting, but raw ore can wait until a specific recipe needs ingots.
Iron OreKeep and smelt heavilyMetal Ingots feed tools, furniture, and upgrade projects across multiple systems.
FluoriteNever sell earlyRare research and advanced crafting input. Treat it as progression stock, not quick gold.
StoneSell only surplusKeep a reserve for building and path recipes, then sell extras after checking your crafting queue.

20-Minute Mining Session Plan

  1. Minute 0-2: clear inventory, confirm the next recipe or upgrade, and eat only if stamina is already low.
  2. Minute 3-7: check the daily rare node and mine any Epic or Rare crystal before it rotates away.
  3. Minute 8-14: run Copper and Iron nodes according to your current crafting bottleneck.
  4. Minute 15-18: grab Coal and roadside Stone on the exit path instead of detouring for low-value nodes.
  5. Minute 19-20: store upgrade materials first, then sell only surplus common drops.

Mining Tips

  1. Mine first thing in the morning. Mining costs the most stamina (4-6/hit). Do it while your bar is full.
  2. Hoard Iron Ore. Metal Ingots are used in 6/8 furniture sets + tools + upgrades. You can never have too many.
  3. Never sell Fluorite. It is rare and needed for Research Room upgrades. Store every piece you find.
  4. Check daily rare nodes. Flawless Fluorite location changes daily. A quick mine check takes 2 minutes.
  5. Smelt in batches. Queue up 10+ ores at the Forge overnight. Smelting runs while you are offline.
  6. Stone is free XP. Grab roadside Stone while walking between locations. Zero detour, free materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ore types are in Heartopia?

There are 6 ore types: Stone (Common), Coal (Uncommon), Copper Ore (Uncommon), Iron Ore (Uncommon), Fluorite (Rare), and Flawless Fluorite (Epic). Each has different locations and uses.

Where is the best mining spot in Heartopia?

The River Area mine is the best starting point with consistent Copper Ore spawns on layers 1-2. Mid-layer mines have Iron Ore. For Fluorite, look for cave crystal nodes in deeper mine areas. Flawless Fluorite rotates daily between rare nodes.

How does smelting work in Heartopia?

Smelting requires the Forge (unlocks at D.G. Level 5). Place ore + Coal as fuel into the Forge to produce ingots. Copper Ore → Copper Ingot, Iron Ore → Metal Ingot, Fluorite → Refined Fluorite. Each smelt consumes 1 Coal.

What is the most important ore in Heartopia?

Iron Ore is the most important. It smelts into Metal Ingots, which are used in 6 of 8 furniture sets, most tool upgrades, and many blueprints. Farm Iron Ore daily and keep 30+ Metal Ingots in reserve.

How do I find Flawless Fluorite in Heartopia?

Flawless Fluorite spawns at daily rotating rare nodes — the location changes each day. Check the mine areas daily for a glowing Epic node. It is the rarest ore and used for high-end furniture and premium crafting.

Does mining cost stamina in Heartopia?

Yes, mining costs 4-6 stamina per hit — the highest of any action. Mine early in the day when your stamina is full. Bring food (Coffee +35, Cake +40) if you plan an extended mining session.
